Announcement.
Galerie Saint Laurent, Brussels. Exhibition: 10 - 25 April 1964. Private viewing: 10 April from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Invitation. Printed on both sides, in black, on one sheet of paper, a page from a fashion magazine, with colour illustrations, folded into two. Folded: 25.2 x 16.8 cm. Unfolded: 25.2 x 33.6 cm.
"I, too, asked myself whether I couldn't sell something and succeed in life. For a while now, I have been good for nothing. I am forty years old... Finally, the idea of inventing something insincere crossed my mind, and I set to work straight away. After three months, I showed my production to Ph. Edouard Toussaint, the owner of the Galerie Saint Laurent. But it's art, he said, and I would willingly exhibit all of this. All right, I replied. If I sell something he will take 30%. It seems that these are normal conditions, and that some galleries take 75%. What is it? In fact, objects. Marcel Broodthaers."

Text of the open letter:

Palais des Beaux Arts le 7/6/68.

A mes amis,

reprends mon attitude personnelle.
Mes amis,
avec vous je pleure pour ANDY WARHOL*.

p. 181: Musée d'Art Moderne. Département des Aigles. Section XIXème siècle: "The first manifestation of the Musée d'Art Moderne was installed at the artist's home, which also served as his studio, and remained in place for one year. The museum consisted of crates which had been used to ship artworks, postcards of nineteenth-century French paintings by artists such as Courbet, Meissonier and David, a slide projection, and, for the occasions of the opening and closing, an empty transport truck parked outside the building. During the year of its existence, various events and performances took place."
p. 182: Musée d'Art Moderne. Département des Aigles. Section XVIIème siècle. "The seventeenth-century section of Broodthaers's Musée d'Art Moderne opened in Antwerp on the same day that the nineteenth-century section closed in Brussels. The Antwerp installation, like that in Brussels, included inscriptions, packing cases, a ladder, and postcards of artworks. The opening ceremony was conducted by P.K. van Daalen, director of the Zeews Museum, Middelburg, The Netherlands."
p. 184: Musée d'Art Moderne. Département des Aigles. Section XIX ème siècle (bis): "Broodthaers's contribution to the group exhibition Between 4, this installation was a continuation of the nineteenth-century section of this museum. The artist borrowed eight nineteenth-century paintings from the collection of the Düsseldorf Kunstmuseum and hung them in two rows according to their size, shape, and genre. On the other walls he hung postcards, photographs of the Brussels installation, and posters from both the Brussels and Antwerp Sections. Opening speeches were made by Broodthaers and the assistant director of the Kunsthalle, Jürgen Harten."

Marcel BROODTHAERS: Un film de Charles Baudelaire. (Studio Arenberg). Ciné Culture. Périodique mensuel. 14 février 1974, n° 106.
Program.
6 pages, accordion folded. 25.6x22. Program of the movie theater Studio Arenberg, with films announcements and critical articles. Presentation of the M.B.'s film: 'Un film de Charles Baudelaire' and commentary by the artist (translated into English: "Un film de Charles Baudelaire" is not a film for film buffs. Why? Because it was filmed in the XIXth century. And because film buffs have never seen reels dating from the period when Muybridge, the Lumière brothers and Edison were not yet born, or when they were taking their first steps under the vigilant gaze of their industrial mothers and fathers. But I am preparing a film which has something in it for more or less everybody. This project, entitled "Un jardin d'hiver" ("A winter garden"), is based on the idea that the cinema is a greater misfortune than the theatre but a lesser misfortune than the television. I mean that the misfortune depends on a public which is larger each time, in aid of the growth of receipts. Which doesn't stop it from being a joy. M.B."

This piece was created by M. Broodthaers against the cover of the issue of "Clés pour les Art" September 1974, #45. He disapproved it as being to close to Lichenstein's work: the illustration, full page, on the front cover of the issue, is a photographic portrait of M. Broodthaers showing an offset grid as backcloth. What could be understood as a Lichtenstein's manner.
