Symptomatic of the artist's posture towards time, the work gathers 50 self-portraits, chosen by Roman Opalka, covering the period from 1972 through the realization of this book, exceptionally reproduced for this occasion.
Each portrait is a duotone photograph printed on one side of a double page, the number to which it corresponds facing it on the other side.
His text founding his artistic practice "1972 Opalka's Statement" completes the work. It is reproduced in the book in its original handwritten version, signed in the page and is also translated into French and English.
The book comes in the original publisher's card box.
Self-portraits: 24 x 30 cm
Double page: 24 x 60 cm
Publisher: Bernard Chauveau, Suresnes, France, 2008.
Edition: 298 signed and numbered.

This edition is the only photographic multiple realized during Opalka's life, it comes with a certificate signed by the artist.

"...ce que je nomme mon autoportrait, est composé de milliers de jours de travail. Chacun d'eux correspond au nombre et au moment précis où je me suis arrêté de peindre après une séance de travail. "
